A home-made table cloth

dining table

After browsing the shops looking for a table cloth and discovering how hideously expensive they can be we asked family to get us one for Christmas. Cheap table cloths simply aren’t large enough for our table, the stop gap one we’d bought from Argos only just reached from end to end but then shrank in the wash.

In the end we were given a cheque so we could pick something out ourselves. At the same time I was given a sewing machine by Tom’s lovely parents. So, now I can make anything we need for the house… (I may be overestimating my sewing abilities here).

This table cloth was my first project, just hemming some simple white fabric but I’m quite pleased with myself. The candles were also a Christmas present (from Tom’s aunt and uncle) and the roses Tom bought me for valentines.

I’ve got a few more projects on the go but starting a new job in a couple of weeks so I’m not sure how quickly I’ll get to them!

What do you think of the table cloth? What should I make next?

Over to you, what do you think?
